The core aspects of our licensing model
List & Label is licensed per developer ▾
You need a separate license for every developer on your team who is working on the project, even if they don't work directly with List & Label. Each license is assigned to a specific team member and can be reassigned if there is a change within your organization.

The report designer can be distributed royalty-free ▾
This applies to all List & Label Designers, including the Web Report Designer. You may distribute them as part of your application to any number of end users within the scope of the license agreement.

Reporting Products
Companies worldwide rely on List & Label
Three ways to build reporting in your application — and the hidden costs behind each approach
In-house development |
Simple reporting tools |
List & Label |
|
|---|---|---|---|
| Compliance & export | Every output format must be created and tested manually. | Standard formats available, but limited configuration and compliance options (e.g. PDF/A, ZUGFeRD, complex export requirements). | Natively supports formats such as PDF/A, ZUGFeRD, and many export formats – ready for future compliance requirements. |
| Maintenance | Ongoing bug fixes, special cases, and updates must be handled internally. | Depends on the tool vendor; growing requirements often lead to workarounds or switching tools. | Fully handled by the vendor: regular updates, service packs, and long-term product development. |
| Opportunity costs | Longer roadmap cycles and delayed feature delivery. | Quick to implement, but functional limitations appear as complexity grows – migrating later can be resource-intensive. | Focus on core features: reporting is implemented professionally and built to scale from the start. |
| UI development | Custom UI development and documentation required. | Usually simple standard UIs with limited customization. | Powerful WYSIWYG report designer, which can be integrated royalty-free for end users. |
| Future-proofing & scalability | Every new requirement must be implemented internally. | Often sufficient for simple use cases, but not for complex reporting, multilingual setups, large data volumes, or regulatory requirements. | Supports both simple and highly complex reporting scenarios – no later system migration required. |
| Migration risk | No external dependency, but strong internal dependency on development resources. | High risk: later migration requires data transfer, template rebuilding, training, and project effort. | No platform switch required later – investment protection through a long-term scalable architecture. |
| Conclusion |
Starting with in-house development provides maximum control and allows for a quick start. However, growing requirements lead to high maintenance and long-term resource binding. |
Fast to implement and suitable for simple use cases. But quickly reaches limits and often requires costly replacement. |
Avoids long-term maintenance projects and system migrations. Handles both current and future reporting requirements seamlessly. |
FAQ
License costs depend on the number of software developers working on your software application and the selected List & Label edition. Our editions differ in technical features and included services.
Every developer involved in the development of a software project or product that includes List & Label requires their own license, even if they don't work directly with List & Label.
This also applies to people in testing and quality assurance who build or compile the application.
For example, if you are developing an ERP system with a team of five software developers, all five developers need their own license, even if only two developers are responsible for the List & Label integration.
Read our complete license FAQ and the combit license agreement.
No, List & Label does not have any end-user-dependent license fees.
You can pass on the redistributable components (e.g., the report designer) to your end users at no additional cost.
Typically, List & Label licensing is based solely on the developer team. For exceptions, see the license agreement.
That depends entirely on your requirements and those of your project. Our editions can be divided as follows:
- Standard Edition: Well suited for smaller Windows projects with lower support requirements. Direct manufacturer support is available exclusively through the forum.
- Professional Edition: Suitable for all Windows projects. This edition is the right choice if you need QR codes or 2D barcodes or if you want support on a flat-rate basis.
- Enterprise Edition: It is ideal for servers, web applications, and cloud applications. It includes cross-platform support for Windows, Linux, and macOS. You also receive premium manufacturer support.
Do you have questions about the editions or would you like non-binding advice? Then contact our sales team: sales@combit.com
If you are still unsure after the free trial phase whether List & Label is the right product for you, we offer a 100-day money-back guarantee.
You can use List & Label for 100 days. If it does not meet your requirements, simply return the license.
Important: In this case, you must delete or dispose of your license information and all copies.
After written confirmation, you will receive your money back. This allows you to get started with List & Label completely risk-free.
The team discount depends on the size of your team.
If your team grows, we will automatically apply the higher team discount.
For example, if you start with four software developers and add a fifth person after one year, you will receive the higher team discount of 30% for all five licenses starting from the first renewal year onward.
This happens automatically—you do not need to do anything.
There are several reasons to renew your subscription.
First, you save money because the renewal cost is only about half the price of the first year.
In addition, you continue to benefit from support, service packs, security updates, and major version updates.
As long as you are developing and distributing your application, it is worth keeping your subscription active.
If something does go wrong, we can easily provide you with the latest updates.
Have you realized that you need QR code support or perhaps List & Label Cross Platform?
No problem! Our sales team will gladly provide you with a fair offer to upgrade your existing licenses.
