We, the iS Software GmbH, part of the Kraftwerk group, are a specialized IT service provider for the energy industry. With our software solution WinEV, we support municipal utilities and energy providers in key processes such as billing, market communication, and customer management. Our goal is to simplify the complex requirements of the industry through powerful software while enabling legally compliant and efficient processes.

Initial situation

In the energy industry, invoices are among the most complex documents of all. We have to process large volumes of data, present complex calculations correctly, and at the same time comply with regulatory requirements. This is exactly where our challenge lay: We needed a tool that can map highly dynamic data and complex table structures with absolute reliability.

Why we rely on List & Label

When I started at iS Software GmbH more than five years ago, List & Label was already in use. So I didn’t make the original decision myself—but from today’s perspective, I can clearly say: it was absolutely the right one.
Developing our own solution would not have been a viable option for us. The requirements in the energy industry are too complex—both technically and regulatorily. At the same time, List & Label provides exactly the flexibility we need to implement these requirements efficiently.
We see the difference especially compared to traditional ERP systems: Reporting layouts there are often rigid and quickly reach their limits. With List & Label, we can implement even the most complex requirements in a very short time. This also allows us to meet specific customer requirements.

Technical implementation

Our application WinEV is a desktop application specifically developed for the requirements of the energy industry. We have deeply integrated List & Label as the central reporting engine into this environment.
As a data basis, we use complex relational databases. From there, we access dynamic content such as meter readings, consumption histories, and tariff details. This data is processed in real time and transformed into structured documents—from energy bills to dunning runs and individual customer correspondence.

Efficiency in everyday work

What impresses me most in daily work is the time savings. Many adjustments can be implemented directly in the designer—often it takes less than five minutes to implement a specific customer request. Especially when customers see live how their requirements are implemented immediately, it regularly creates enthusiasm. At the same time, this noticeably reduces our support workload.

Stability and flexibility

In our environment, reliability is crucial. Energy bills must be error-free and legally compliant. List & Label fully meets these requirements for us. At the same time, the tool offers a level of flexibility that I have not seen in other solutions. Particularly important to me are the powerful formula language, flexible appearance conditions, and precise control of complex tables. This combination enables solutions even for very demanding layouts.
